Free Range Chicken
Free range poultry farming consists of poultry permitted to roam freely instead of being contained in any manner. A free range chicken must have daytime access to open-air runs during at least half of their life. In free-range broiler systems, the chickens are given continuous access to an outdoor range during the daytime and sheds where they are housed at night. Free-range chickens grow more slowly than intensive chickens. They live at least 56 days.

Organic Chicken
There is another level beyond free range to try and ensure the birds on your table have lived in satisfactory conditions - organic; with the appropriate certifications. These chickens are also free-range, but far slower growing than intensively raised chickens and also slower growing than free range chickens. This usually means fewer health issues. Organic poultry farming forbids the use of growth stimulants, plus there's far greater restrictions on the types of chemicals in the birds' diets and general care. Unfortunately, organic poultry can be rather hard to source; but if you are prepared to buy in bulk, it can be purchased online in some countries for delivery in metropolitan areas.
Ayam Kampung
Ayam kampung adalah istilah yang diberikan kepada ayam yang dipelihara secara lepas atau bebas. Kebiasaanya ayam ini dipelihara di kawasan luar bandar atau di kawasan perkampungan. Nama saintifik bagi ayam kampung ini ialah Gallus domesticus adalah dari keturunan ayam hutan merah (Gallus gallus) manakala di sebelah Negara Barat mereka memanggilnya dengan gelaran ayam ternak lepas (free range chicken) atau ayam organik (organic chicken).
Ayam kampung ini mestilah mempunyai peluang untuk bergerak aktif tanpa perlu dikurung pada waktu siang hari dan pandai mencari makanan tambahan seperti serangga kecil, ulat, belalang dan cacing serta bahan daripada tumbuhan seperti bijirin, buah dan dedaun termasuk dari spesies tumbuhan herba. Kebiasaanya penternak ayam kampung ini akan memberi makanan berupa sisa makanan, lebihan nasi, dedak, jagung, ubi dan sebagainya pada waktu sebelah pagi sebelum ayam-ayam ini berkeliaran mencari makanannya sendiri.
Ayam-ayam kampung ini begitu aktif bergerak dan pergerakan otot yang aktif serta pengambilan makanan berunsur organik menghasilkan daging yang lazat dan berkhasiat tinggi. Ciri-ciri daging yang enak dan berprotein tinggi tanpa kolesterol ini menyebabkan harga ayam kampung di pasaran adalah tinggi berbanding dengan harga ayam daging komersil. Daging ayam kampung ini juga agak liat, pejal dan manis berbanding dengan ayam daging komersil yang dijual di pasaran.
Selaian itu baka ayam kampung ini mempunyai bulu tipis, lebih berat, kaki besar dan panjang, kulit berwarna kuning atau kemerahan-merahan. Ayam kampung diternak secara separa bebas dengan makanan organik sebagai makanan utama.
Ayam Organik
Ayam kampung organik ini mempunyai nutrisi yang tinggi dan dapat membina sistem imuniti badan yang baik. Tidak menggunakan bahan-bahan kimia dalam makanan & rawatan, harus gunakan bahan-bahan organik saja. Ia diternak 100 peratus secara organik dan tiada kena mengena dengan teknik organism pengubahsuaian genetik (GMO). Penternak tidak menggunakan antibiotik, suntikan hormon, beta agonist atau salbutamol. Kalau ayam tu diberi makan dedak yang macam kita beli kat kedai tu, maka confirm ayam tu dah tak jadi organik. Ayam-ayam tersebut hendaklah bebas dan menggunakan 60% daripada aktiviti hariannya untuk bergerak.
